“Kleentek Contaminant Checker” analysis kits

The “KLEENTEK Contaminant Checker” enables you to monitor the workings of the electrostatic cleaner and determine the oil contamination level at any time.

This kit makes it possible to perform the so-called “membrane patch test” quickly and with maximum ease. In this quick but highly rigorous analysis, with the aid of a vacuum pump, a predetermined quantity of oil diluted with petroleum ether is made to pass through a membrane with 0.8 micron porosity (or 0.45 micron for turbine oils, according to ASTM D7843-12). All impurities with particle size exceeding membrane porosity are withheld onto the surface of the membrane.

This very fine porosity level makes it possible to identity the smallest contaminants, and especially those generated by the oil oxidation process, the so-called "sludge" or “varnish”.

On account their extremely small size, in fact, varnish particles cannot be measured with normal particle count tests (ISO/NAS standards).

Even particulate may be detected with the aid of the microscope supplied as standard, which makes it possible to estimate particle count and types of material contained in the oil.

The membrane patch test, if integrated with further instruments, can meet the following standard:
  • Gravimetric test according to ASTM F 313-78
  • Colorimetric test according to ASTM D 7843-12 to measure the color of the oil contaminants on the membrane surface.
Benefits:
  • Immediate result
  • Measures contaminants even smaller than 1 micron (and larger then 0,8/0,45 μm)
  • Identifies all the insoluble contaminants
  • Quick and easy to be used
  • Portable
Identifies all the insoluble contaminants

The majority of contamination in a used oil is <1 micron
By using the Contaminant Checker KLEENTEK you can find out ALL insoluble contaminants in your oils.

Particle counting does not differentiate between these two samples - however one is much dirtier than the other - this is easily identified by the Contamination Checker Kit. The kit allows you to instantly check your oil, and take immediate action
